Few albums like this have made us jump out of our chairs and giggle, \u201cOH YES!\u201d Graham Simpson, the author of the beautiful \u201cElectrical Storm at the Micro-Station\u201d released by HDK in 2024, returns with an epic, powerful and terribly evocative concept. <\/p>\n

\u201cMithology\u201d – as its author states – manifests its devotion to the history of fantasy film soundtracks: from 1950s kolossals with music by Miklos Rozsa, to Italian Sword & Sandal films of the 1960s, from soundtracks by Basil Poledouris, Vangelis and Trevor Jones to children’s TV series such as \u201cMasters of the Universe\u201d or \u201cXeena: Warrior Princess.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMithology\u201d contains a mini-gamebook, the first issue of the \u201c28-page deadly quest\u201d series titled \u201cThe Fortress\u201d: a short but risky quest in which the reader is the protagonist, inspired by the interactive literature of the 1980s (Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone’s \u201cFighting Fantasy\u201d series, Dever & Chalck’s beloved \u201cLone Wolf,\u201d D&D’s \u201cEndless Quest\u201d series …) and to the cerebral text adventures of early home computers such as the ZX Spectrum and Apple II (Melbourne House’s \u201cHobbit\u201d or the adventures of the legendary Infocom).<\/p>\n
