The Cult of Nigredo

Nigredo, or of Transformation.

You have long been on the road, seeking the stars but inhabiting the crossroads. You have learned the language of beasts in the belly of the night.

What lurks in the forest? He looks up. A black comet rips through the pitch sky. It points perhaps to a path, a pale reminder of salvation: a home.

Where is the world you knew? Nature is in no hurry, yet everything is accomplished. You set out and suddenly feel that soon you will no longer have legs, but strong wings made of storm and dew. You will still ply the scorched skies toward Malakut.

Dream on, Zosimos: there a Key awaits you.

Rubedo, or of the Rising.

You float over primal waterfalls and ascend along the golden curtain of centuries. Feel your body opening wide like a window to darkness. Your fingers are honey and your hands hawthorn shrubs.

You abandon the burnt concrete of your city, the crowns of churches and chimneys and sheet metal barricades, the deadly habit of suffering. TheAncient Night of the Soul, but this day you are no longer afraid. Where you stand now the edges of spirit and world stitch together at the edge of time.

Fulgent is the courage of an imagination that embraces everything. Open your eyes and everything is clear and shines as in the lake of your childhood, where the reflection is so true and the water so deep. Now you remember the Many-Worlds-Below, enveloped by memory and melancholy.

No longer will you let terror shake you: now you have a Mission.

Albedo or Illumination.

Nigredo comes from the oldest bet of all: that there is a world that precedes the world. That imagination can rip through the real like an earthquake from the center of everything. That there is more abyss and vertigo inside, above and below us than we can hope for.

Nigredo is a godless and aimless worship, a wandering flutter and a thousand songs. Nigredo is a spark that ignites the Veil.

Nigredo is the secret room that has been waiting for you for centuries in the castle library. Here you will find a bed for dreaming, a key for every door, an alliance in the night, black books to whisper by candlelight, amulets for unbelieving wayfarers.

Rise and shine: grasp our Hands.

The Dogmas that guide us are: Transformation, Experimentation e Hybridization.

The Priests

We are those who have taken the winding path, the dark offspring of Malakut. We will guide you in the World-beyond-the-World. We are four, but our number is endless. Now grasp our hands, Cultist, and join us.

Zosimos

The Founder

Zosimos is the first Alchemist, theurgist, and founder of the Cult of Nigredo, where he deals with initiations into the Cult and spreads the Cyerean Dogma through the consecration of primordial manuscripts.

Trithemius

The Caretaker

Trithemius, also known as “Black Abbot,” is a philosopher, occultist and universal man. Keeper of the Cynerian Library, his job is to unearth lost tomes and translate incantations from the Chthonic languages.

Simon Magus

The Prophet

Simon Magus, an invaded prophet, passed on the science of the aeons to his followers before being abducted beyond the sublunar worlds. He translated his transcendent visions into symbols with which he undermined the manuscripts of the Cinerean Library.

Homunculus

The Bishop

Homunculus is the alchemical son of Zosimos. A living blasphemy germinated by the blood arcane of Paracelsus himself, Homunculus is the zealous handyman of the Cult and the scourge of its opponents.

The Officiants

We are those without whom the Dream of Zosimos could not have been realized: emissaries of mirrors, subtle spirits, mischievous imps and weavers of the world. Even if you do not see us we are the ones who trace the seals of Ritual.

La Voisin

A poisoner and adventuress, she invented a toxic vapor that can bind the whispers of the dead and creatures from other planes with the lead of printed characters, and is therefore the one in charge of preparing and making readable the texts of the Dogma Cinereum.

Sabellicus

Sabellicus is a magician, aeromancer and probable charlatan. He is in charge of spreading the Cynerian Dogma through the ether.

William Mumler

William Mumler is a spirit photographer and medium. He is said to be the inventor of a special instrument capable of fixing on a plate the presence of spirits and otherworldly entities.

Palladino

A spiritist and medium, Palladino possesses the ability to materialize the spirits of the dead and is able to levitate.
