HDK 170 † JOHN REPPION & GNOLL “Faer the Wanderer” on cassette is an ambitious fusion of narrative, visual art, and dungeon-synth music, creating what could be called the first“Dungeon-synth Kolossal.”

This unique project was born from the collaboration between:

  • John Reppion, renowned English writer (co-author of Albion and Wild Girl), who created the character of Faer and wrote three original stories.
  • Samuel Allan, a London-based artist, who did the character design and created the action illustrations.
  • GNOLL, the dungeon-synth ensemble that composed nearly an hour of music to give sonic life to Faer‘s adventures.

Faer the Wanderer is an homage to the heroic-fantasy paperbacks of the 1970s, with a touch of the “dark age” American comics of the early 1990s.

The result is an immersive experience that combines:

  • A 32-page booklet with three original Faer stories written by John Reppion
  • Vigorous illustrations by Samuel Allan enveloping the tape
  • Nearly an hour of GNOLL‘s dungeon-synth music, weaving together somber synths, dark orchestrations and a deep sense of wonder

GNOLL ‘s music serves as a true soundtrack for Faer’s adventures, creating a listening experience that transports the listener directly into the protagonist’s world.

“Faer the Wanderer” represents an evolution of the dungeon-synth genre, elevating it to a multidisciplinary art form that engages all the senses. An ambitious work that promises to transport audiences into a world of epic adventures and dark mysteries.
