HDK 225 † GOBLINTH “The Keep on the Borderlands” CASSETTE

Anyone who was a fan of Dungeons & Dragons in the 1980s has surely played “Keep on the Borderlands,” the module written by Gary Gygax in 1979. It was a vast setting, full of sub-adventures, that could be played endlessly. A gold mine of fun! “Keep…” was also pivotal because it set the standard for subsequent D&D adventures and spawned hundreds of imitators.

HDK wanted to pay tribute to the legendary module with this album composed by the intrepid GOBLINTH, which retraces all of its highlights. The cassette includes a 24-page illustrated booklet that describes the story behind each track on the album, making for an immersive and captivating listening experience. Enjoy!

Introduction:
“The Caves of Chaos are a very dangerous place, a destination for adventurers seeking their fortune. The bands of humanoids that inhabit them are ruthless, but raiding one of their lairs means securing a good number of gold coins and magical items. You thought that a successful raid would allow you to settle there for a while. To reach that remote location, you must travel for several days to the farthest reaches of the Kingdom of Karameikos and reach the last outpost of civilization: the Fort on the Borderlands. That fortified structure, situated at a strategic point in a narrow gorge, has always been impregnable and has served as the last crucial bulwark against the creatures of chaos that inhabit the unknown lands beyond, known as the Wildlands. No one has ever accurately mapped those lands, but you’ve gathered enough information to know that somewhere in the Wildlands lie the Caves of Chaos. That is your destination.
